SCHUCO International Soling Argentine Championship
San Isidro, ARG

Lights winds and sunny days only allowed two races last weekend at the SCHÜCO International Open Argentine Soling Championship in San Isidro.
Sixteen Solings from Argentina and the USA, the biggest Soling fleet since the 1970s competed in San Isidro in this the third weekend of the Argentine Soling Championship. Two races were completed on Saturday but the fleet had to see a race abandoned on Sunday because the first boat failed by just one minute to finish within the time limit. The race started with a northeast breeze which went to north and east but never reached more than 5 knots.

Team Souther Winds with Martin BUSCH, Pablo NOCETI and Ezequiel MENDONÇA (ARG) kept their lead in the championship with four points after posting a third and a first. Lucas GONZALEZ SMITH and his crew, also from Argentina, posted a first and a fourth during Saturday races and as they race with an Elvstrom 75 they are now favourites to win the ARG 1 Classic trophy for boats built before 1 January 1980.

Double World Champion Gustavo WARBURG, Hernan CELEDONI and Maximo SMITH (ARG) didn't have the best weekend finsihing second and sixth to finish third overall. Winners of the first weekend in February Matias NOCETI, S GUERRERO and G SERRA also had a slightly disappointing weekend finishing fifth overall after taking fifth in both races.

The 16 boat fleet racing for the Schuco Trophy will rest and hope that next weekend 'Eolo' will allow at least three races to finish the championship
