Equality Policy and Plan

The Royal Yachting Association is committed to the principle of equality of opportunity.

The RYA aims to ensure that all present and potential participants, members, instructors, coaches, competitors, officials, volunteers and employees are treated fairly and on an equal basis, irrespective of sex, age, disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, gender reassignment or social status.

Our full policy statement can be downloaded from the link on the right.

The RYA is working towards the achievement of the Equality Standard for Sport, established by the Sports Councils as a benchmark for the governing bodies to whom they provide funding.  We achieved the Intermediate level of the Standard in February 2013 and are now updating our action plan to achieve the Advanced Standard by 2015.

We currently lack information about our members and qualification holders, particularly in the areas of disability and ethnicity.  If you can spare a few minutes to download, complete and return a Monitoring Form it would be very much appreciated.
