Access to Warsash Sailing Club sailing dinghies

WSC have a small number of dinghies available for members to use. Their use is limited to the times when organised Club coaching activity is not taking place. The boats include:

4x RS Feva, - double handed dinghy with asymmetric spinnaker - designed for a lightweight helm and crew with one years sailing experience

26x Optimist – single hander, designed for a 6-14 year old. The Optimist must be accompanied by an adult in a separate suitable support craft and is restricted within the river.

5x Laser Pico, - single handed dinghy, small sail area designed for a lightweight helm with six months sailing experience

Ix Laser 1 with a 4.7 rig, - advanced single hander – designed for medium weight helm with at least 2 seasons sailing experience

1x Laser Stratos, - heavyweight 3-4 person boat – with asymmetric spinnaker – easy to sail, a good boat for the family – requires at least 2 years experience if sailing with a novice crew.

Boats sailing outside of organised Club activity are limited to sailing within sight of Warsash Sailing Club. Unless express permission has been given, boats may not sail to the west of the Maritime college jetty.

A charge of £10 .00 per session will be levied per boat (Stratos £15) – payment to the club administrator following use of the boat.

1. Members may not reserve a Club boat for more than 3 weeks in advance. The exception to this rule being reservations for regattas and open events.

2. Where a boat has been reserved but is no longer required, the Club dinghy coordinator must be notified via the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. If the boat which has been reserved, is not being used one hour after the commencement of the loan period, it will be deemed that the boat is no longer required; the reservation will be cancelled and the boat may be used by other members upon completion of a new booking request.

3. A contribution towards Club boat maintenance is payable by any member booking the following boats:-

Laser Stratos - £15 per session, and RS Feva, Laser 4.7, Optimist and Laser Pico - £10 per session

4. There is no maintenance contribution payable in respect of the use of Club boats. Sailors registered as Kippers and youth will not be required to pay any maintenance contribution unless booking the Laser Stratos as above. Coaches requiring the boats outside of formal structured coaching sessions are not expected to pay the maintenance contribution. Booking for Club training sessions will be taken on first come first served basis at the discretion of the coach.
