Day three was exclusively for the Silver Fleet who managed to complete two shortened races inspite of wind speeds sometimes approaching dead calm... Sean Fidler of the US dominated the day with a 2nd and a 1st place finish. Tomorrow the Gold Fleet starts the final series over two and a half days.

Current leader is Cor van Aanholt, the former World Champion, sometime of Holland but currently residing in Curacao. Close on his transom and trailing by just 2 points is Hank Suarage of the US with a followed closely by one time Optimist sensation from Peru, Diego Zimmerman. Malcolm Smith of Bermuda is in fourth as an incident ruined his averages.

Sebastian Mera of the Dominican Republic is currently in 10th place following a penalty that negated his first over the line finish in race 6. Jesus Salazar of Venezuela holds the fifth position, and hopes to emulate his countryman Eduardo Cordero, the seven-time winner of this event. Leader in the Grand Masters Division is Dick Tillman, the Sunfish International Class president.

The weather report for the next few days suggests continuing light winds so that light weather sailing skills will come to the fore. The course is sailed on open ocean so that the ability to keep a boat moving in light lumpy conditions will be a requirement for success in this world championship event.

The competition is being held at Divi Little Bay Resort and hosted by the Sint Maarten Yacht Club.
