As predicted by many race veterans, the boats who finished early enjoyed the best of the breeze. It looks increasingly likely that Line Honours and IRC Div A winner, Ffree Fire, can make it a hat-trick by putting her name on the HKPN overall trophy as well. Fred KINMONTH's Farr Mills 51, Mandrake finished five hours behind Ffree Fire, with Marcel LIEDTS' Hocux Pocux 2 a further two hours behind. Ant DAY's Sayer13, Siren, crossed the line another ten hours back, losing another hour overnight as the coastal breezes died.

After a rough couple of nights, the wind softened during today, depriving the Ffree Fire team of the opportunity to break their own monohull line honours' record of 49:55:12, however crew said 'Ffree Fire enjoyed the race and were very happy with the forecast from the Hong Kong Observatory, which was spot on!'

The current tally is four finishes, four boats retired (all now safely back in Hong Kong) fifteen boats still under sail and two cruisers, Irmgard and Polar Star III, throwing in the towel and opting to motor the remainder of the trip. Cave Canem and Trilogy HK now have an ETA of around mid-day Monday, with Koon Woon on course for a midnight finish the same day.

Drumstick, Moonblue and Zuma are expected to finish around mid-day today, with Outrageous, Ocean Girl and Wizard due mid-afternoon. If current conditions prevail, Barnstormer, Dolphin Six and Zephyr 2 should finish overnight, with Quest and Tui Tai making it across the line on Monday morning.
