Web usage is changing: people receive and read emails on their Smart Phone where they are being encouraged to click through to read articles or make a purchase. It is imperative that the pages they are directed to be delivered in a completely mobile friendly way.
This can be delivered either via an App or mobile variant. However, Sotic believes the cost for delivery and support of traditional apps using different programme languages is proving to be unsustainable.
95% of the content held in an app is actually the same as the website just displayed in a different format. With the improvement in mobile website delivery Sotic is able to deliver a comparable experience to an app on a handset using a mobile site. The major advantage that a mobile site works on the majority of Smart Phones rather than just one platform.

It is our recommendation that building a mobile variant of a sport website with stub apps for the main markets will in the long-term be a more cost effective and resource efficient solution than building and supporting full apps for each platform.
Please note in Sotic's view the technology presently being utilised to deliver responsive design websites is not yet robust enough to extend to the mobile platform, hence the necessity to create a separate mobile variant. This is the consensus of several leading IT and blue-chip companies including Disney/ESPN who recently launched a new Disney website, complemented by a new mobile, rather than a single platform.
