Internet Sites

Extranets

Dealing efficiently with the varied requirements of the media and commercial partners is an important objective for any sporting body. For large clubs and governing bodies to make full use of their communication channels it is imperative to use extranets to deliver Press Releases, Accreditation, Statistics and Brand Guidelines. By ensuring speedy delivery and in-depth coverage, extranets can improve productivity of available resources and assist in getting maximum media coverage. Sotic has further built extranets to allow clubs and their governing bodies to manage player registration and nation-wide training camp events.

Intranets

Intranets are becoming widely used by sporting bodies to deliver information to their Members, Academies, Players and Administrative Staff. Sotic's experience in this area can help governing bodies improve their internal communication and we can advise how best to implement this technology into the existing environment.

Mobile Web Enabled

Web usage is changing: people receive and read emails on their Smart Phone where they are being encouraged to click through to read articles or make a purchase. It is imperative that the pages they are directed to be delivered in a completely mobile friendly way.

This can be delivered either via an App or mobile variant. However, Sotic believes the cost for delivery and support of traditional apps using different programme languages is proving to be unsustainable.

95% of the content held in an app is actually the same as the website just displayed in a different format. With the improvement in mobile website delivery Sotic is able to deliver a comparable experience to an app on a handset using a mobile site. The major advantage that a mobile site works on the majority of Smart Phones rather than just one platform.

A mobile site can be accessed in a number of ways;

• Using an easily created stub app, the marketing advantage of the app in the store is still maintained.
• As the site works through the phones in-built browser, it can be directly accessed with a link in an email or tweet.
• Once launched the site prompts visitors to place a dedicated bookmark link on the phone's home screen.

It is our recommendation that building a mobile variant of a sport website with stub apps for the main markets will in the long-term be a more cost effective and resource efficient solution than building and supporting full apps for each platform.

Please note in Sotic's view the technology presently being utilised to deliver responsive design websites is not yet robust enough to extend to the mobile platform, hence the necessity to create a separate mobile variant. This is the consensus of several leading IT and blue-chip companies including Disney/ESPN who recently launched a new Disney website, complemented by a new mobile, rather than a single platform.
