Welsh National Sailing Academy receives LOCOG Olympic Legacy equipment

RYA Competition Manager delivers Olympic Legacy equipment

Tim Hall, RYA Competition Manager, today (Friday 22 February) delivered a set of Championship race marks for use at Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club as part of the RYA’s Olympic Legacy commitment.

The Welsh National Sailing Academy (WNSA) is recognised by the RYA as one of the four UK event Academies. Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club has a great track record of hosting National and International Regattas, and these marks will be used in various Championships in the future.

Volunteers and Staff would have used these marks when running one of the Race courses at the London 2012 Olympic Games at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy last summer.

Handover of the marks kit took place at Plas Menai, National Water Sports Centre who is a partner to the WNSA.

Gareth Roberts, Pwllheli Sailing Club Events Manager, commented “This is equipment is a fantastic help for us to be able to run another Race Course in Tremadog Bay, and will make it easier to run a combined 420 and 470 Europeans this coming summer. It’s great to see Olympic legacy equipment coming to Wales!”
