Have you got the Sail-Factor?!

At the RYA we know that sailing is a sport for all  and we want to prove it!

We’re looking for people who have never been out on a boat or windsurfer but would love to. We want to take them out on the water, film their first day and show just how easy it is to get hooked.

Anyone can get on the water and the RYA is looking for a range of first timers, young people, families, pensioners, regular gym users or exercise avoiders, hardworking mums, overworked business types or curious hobby seekers.

Give us one day and we’ll show you why sailing is one of the greatest sports to be a part of. Fantastic opportunities are available for selected first timers to enjoy a free local sailing or windsurfing experience with expert tuition.

The footage will be used to create a series of short films on people taking to the water for the very first time and will feature “real life” experiences.

These films will encourage other boating first timers to take part in RYA Push the Boat Out – a weekend of ‘have a go’ and taster sessions taking place at sailing clubs and centres across the country on 17-18 May, which are part of National Watersports Month in May.

To apply, supply contact details, a photo and 100 words on why you’d like to try sailing or windsurfing for the first time before the 18th April. Email you application to ptbo@rya.org.uk. Applicants should be available for one day between 22 April-02 May.

Full details are on RYA web site. For more information about RYA Push the Boat Out and how to get involved visit www.rya.org.uk/go/PTBO

National Watersports Month is an initiative by the RYA, British Marine Federation (BMF), British Canoe Union (BCU), British Rowing and British Water Ski & Wakeboard (BWSW) to encourage the nation to get on the water with a month-long schedule of activities.
