What is ICES?
The International community Coach Education System (ICES) is a platform which supports agencies to engage in educating and developing community sport coaches. It is underpinned by a belief that children and young people have a right to access safe, quality and developmental community sport.
Aim
ICES aims to enhance the sport and physical activity experience of children and young people through:
- contributing to an improvement in the education and development of community sport practitioners
- supporting cross agency recognition, quality assurance and system development
Who is ICES for?
Agencies and organisations that have a role in educating, developing and supporting grass roots or sport for development coaches.
How ICES Works
ICES facilitates networking opportunities, access to quality assurance tools and resource exchange.

A belief that community sport is about the actual participants. Their needs and entitlements should be central to how community coaches are educated, developed and supported - Context Specific
A belief that support for community coaches must be relevant to where they actually coach. Although ICES is an international initiative, the approach is flexible and durable so that it can be tailored for where coaches work - Collaboratively Developed
A belief that collaborating with other organisations in an area, country, region and internationally is valuable and important to advocate and quality assure the development of community coaches
