Elite Coaching Apprenticeship Programme
Related content
The Elite Coaching Apprenticeship Programme (ECAP) was launched in January 2010 and is an essential element of our ambitious strategy for high performance coach development. It aims to create a bespoke development pathway towards coaching excellence, based on the needs of each coach and their sport.
ECAP is targeted at emerging coaches already working in the high performance system, enabling them to not only have an enhanced impact in the short term, but also to become the elite coaches of the future.
ECAP follows a traditional apprenticeship model, where the Apprentice Coach learns ‘on the job’ alongside a Master Coach from within the sport, with on-going support from a Mentor. This learning is complemented by a structured workshop programme focussing on the development of non-technical coaching skills, self-awareness and reflective practice, whilst also providing an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with coaches from across the system.
