North London (Electricity Line) Reinforcement

About this project

The project consists of the upgrading of one of two existing 275kV overhead lines running between Waltham Cross and Tottenham substations (via Brimsdown substation) and its operation at a higher voltage (400kV). The upgrading will involve works at each substation along the route, plus associated works.

The examination has now closed. There will now be a period of 3 months for the Examining Authority to consider and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State. Please see the letter sent to Interested Parties.

National Grid’s response received for the deadline of 21 October 2013 of the Examining authority’s revised examination timetable has been published.

What happens next

A decision on the application for a development consent order for North London (Electricity Line) Reinforcement was taken on 16 April 2014 and has now been issued. The statement of reasons can be viewed here.

The period for legal challenge is defined in s118 of the Planning Act 2008. Further information about legal challenge can be found in the letter sent to all interested parties accompanying the statement of reasons.
