EUROSAF Match Racing Open Youth European Championship

First held in Marsala, Sicily in 2011, hosted by the Society Canottieri Marsala & Associazione MR Trapani, the event this year is to be hosted by Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro in conjunction with the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) and European Sailing Federation. The event will take place from 5^th to 8^th September. Unusually for an international youth sailing competition, the upper age limit is under 22 years old on 31st December, 2012, so the opportunity to participate is extended to a far wider audience than is normal with youth events. Another unusual feature for a Continental Championship, is that it is an open event, entries are not restricted to those from Europe, absolutely anyone from any country can apply to compete.

The current champion, Valerio Galati, from Italy, is competing once more in 2012, with entries confirmed from Russia, Sweden, Andorra and Germany, amongst other. Twelve teams will be competing for the title EUROSAF Match Racing, Open Youth Champion, 2012.

EUROSAF is proud to announce the EUROSAF college Championship 2012 to be held in Garda Lake next 9^th and 10^th June.

The event is open for all European Universities and univerity students being organized by the Centro Universitario Sportivo Milano Vela and the Yacht Club Acquafresca in Brenzone, Verona - Garda Lake under the authority of EUROSAF.

EUROSAF Executive Committee meeting

Hosted by the Danish Sailing Association (DSA) on 17th & 18th February, the EUROSAF Executive Committee met at the "Hidraettens Hus" (Danish House of Sports) in Copenhagen.

Representatives of Sailing Aarhus and the European Sailing Federation met in Copenhagen today to sign the contract for the 2012 EUROSAF Youth Sailing European Championships being held in Aarhus, Denmark, between 4^thand 11^thAugust.

Race Officials' Exchange Programme

The Annual Race Officials' Exchange Meeting took place in Istanbul on Saturday 3rd December. Nineteen countries were present and many requests for Race Officials to attend sailing events throughout 2012 were processed.

For the first time the events were listed online, using a new website developed specifically for the purpose of supporting the Exchange Programme. This simplified the process, because National Authorities were able to enter the events for which they were requesting Race Officials prior to the meeting, enabling other countries to view the requirements in advance of the meeting and decide for which events they would like to bid.

EUROSAF High Performance Grand Prix.

The sun came up over the Murcia region of Spain’s Mar Menor today but was obscured by cloud cover. By the deadline of 1400 local time, the wind had failed to stabilise enough for racing to be held on the final day of the EUROSAF High Performance Grand Prix. Because of this, yesterday’s results stand.
