Visitor EID information

Use of Computers & Online Databases

Visitors can use library computers and most of our databases*, if you come to one of our 13 campus libraries and request a Visitor EID.

*Exceptions to online access include EBL (Ebook Library) - ONLY current UT staff, faculty and students can use the EBL database.

Borrowing Library Materials

  • Get a Library Card - please read this page before coming to campus for a library card.  
    • If you are a Texas resident and have a public library card you can get a free UT library card through the TexShare Card Program.  First you need to register and receive a TexShare card from your local library. Then go the PCL circulation desk with your TexShare card and photo I.D and ask for a courtesy borrower’s card.
  • Library Online Catalog - Use the library catalog to find books, DVDs, CDs, maps, scores, and whether or not the library has a specific magazine, newspaper or journal title.
  • Printing and Photocopies - Printing from computers and using photocopiers in the libraries requires a copy card.
