May is National Watersports Month

Inspire even more people to take to the water

The National Watersports Month initiative aims to target both keen boaters but also beginners, getting them onto the water to try out a range of activities including canoeing, sailing, rowing, windsurfing, kayaking and stand up paddle-boarding .

The annual event stages over 400 free events including Push the Boat Out activities and is organised by the country’s leading watersports and boating organisations,  the RYA,  Go Canoeing, British Rowing, British Marine Federation and British Water Ski and Wakeboard.

During the month, selected watersports clubs and centres across the UK will welcome people of all ages to take part in a programme of free events including the open days and taster sessions taking place on Push the boat Out weekend (17-18 May).

Jackie Bennetts, RYA Club Support Advisor explains: "National Watersports Month is another fantastic opportunity to inspire even more people to get out on the water and discover that sailing is for everyone. If your club is holding an open day or taster sessions during the month please do let your Regional Communicator know so we can help you to promote it and upload it to the open day page "

National Watersports Month was officially launched on 28 April by the British Sailing Team’s Stuart Bithell and Sophie Weguelin.
