Where you can volunteer

DofE programmes are available to young people through different types of DofE centres.

DofE centres

These are the physical locations where DofE programmes are run.  These range from schools, colleges and youth clubs along with other places such as voluntary organisation meeting places, businesses, prisons and Young Offenders Institutions.

Open DofE centres are centres that offer DofE programmes to any young person, rather than places who restrict participation to young people already part of the group/school etc.

DofE groups

Within each DofE centre there can be a number of groups.  A DofE group is a group of young people (ideally 15-20) who are working together on their DofE programme, with one DofE Leader.  They may be grouped by peer groups, ages or levels.  Groups may be split into teams for certain activities, i.e. volunteering or their expedition.

All DofE centres and groups need Leaders and volunteers in order to help young people complete their DofE programmes and achieve a Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
