Ahoy There Me Hearties, Don’t Miss Carsington Sailability Pirate Fun Day!
Derbyshire Sailability group hosts Family Fun Day on Saturday 7 June
An on-the-water Treasure Hunt and heaps more Pirate-themed fun will be the order of the day as Carsington Sailability invites you and your family to its FREE Family Fun Day on Saturday 7 June.
The fun starts at 10am at Carsington Water and is guaranteed to offer something for everyone with a bit of Pirate spirit and a sense of adventure.
Held to raise funds for Carsington Sailability – providing opportunities for local disabled people to go sailing and sail regularly - visitors will get a chance to get afloat (weather permitting), and also take part in knot tying for budding Pirates, name the Pirate Bear and win prizes for best Pirate fancy dress and best Pirate story plus lots more!
Refreshments will be available and a warm welcome is guaranteed as Carsington Sailability aims to give newcomers a real sense of what they do while making sure all the visiting Pirates have a day to remember!
Carsington Sailability is part of Carsington Sailing Club and the RYA’s national Sailability programme.
Carsington Sailability is a fully-inclusive group, with both disabled and able-bodied members, whose main objective is to bring the sport of sailing to others.
Sailability has excellent facilities and equipment and has a well maintained fleet of sailing boats, specifically designed for those with limited mobility.
Earlier this year, the group received a £10,000 grant award from Sport England to purchase a hoist for transferring disabled sailors into and out of boats and a specially designed Access 303 dinghy, which will open up opportunities for disabled people in Derbyshire to try sailing for the first time.
