For 2 years in a row I’ve bought a tree with roots. Both died 💔 I couldn’t handle another loss. So I brought in last year’s dead Christmas tree from the garden…and painted it! Christmas tree recipe: 1 dead tree 1 tin of non toxic green paint 1 paintbrush Decs 🎄💚

HEDY LAMARR escaped from her Nazi husband by disguising herself as her own maid, became a top actress in Hollywood, then co-developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes - the principles of which are incorporated into today's Bluetooth and GPS technology. What a gal.

It would be useful for grocery customers if removed option for "Click for refund" from grocery orders. I'm told this isn't actually an option & the only way to resolve issues is to phone customer services directly.

If you think we don’t need to codify in law that women have a human right to choose to have an abortion, Jacob rees-mogg just argued against women who are victims of rape or incest having a right to have one. Women deserve equal rights. Whoever is in government. #trustWomen

The train is full. The next train is cancelled. The train after costs £184.70 for a single. There is no WiFi, and the shop only takes cash. Travelling Avanti - only marginally preferable to crawling from London to Manchester. TLDR: Strikes aren’t the problem on our railways.

NEW: Rishi Sunak is appointing an “independent” investigator from outside government to establish facts of Dominic Raab allegations and report back to him. However, No 10 concedes that PM himself will be “ultimate arbiter” of complaints. The judge and jury, if you like.

This bin costs thousands of pounds because it alerts & that it is full. Yet it so rarely emptied that its almost always in this state... (Breaking the contract that should invoke fines if the council ever enforced of the contract). #MuckyMerton

Autumn will continue to be a wonderful spectacle in #WimbledonPark, unless AELTC succeed in their plans to chop down dozens of verteran trees, bulldoze and pour concrete all over the golf course, despite signing covenants in 1993 promising not to:

This is extraordinary and deeply worrying. The plea "can I show you my press card?" - which would have avoided this - is just ignored. Police should not be arresting journalists in this country.

Yesterday, myself, a documentary filmmaker and @tomsdinner, a press photographer, got arrested by @HertsPolice whilst filming the @JustStopOil protest from a public footbridge over the #M25. 🧵....

Some weeks ago, in an effort to confuse and misinform the general public, @SoutherWater change how they display their sewage dumping map, making it much more difficult to read and understand. As display of public good I thought I'd change it back again. Here's today's map.

However he was just any of us on a bad day. He had risk factors. But he was just a human being, who was loved, and valued and meaningful, who couldn’t see this for long enough to do a thing that I think we all have capacity to do. Which is why we all must be part of the solution

One of the biggest collectors and commissioners of modern art in the world is...Nandos. This is fascinating piece about how the chicken restaurant chain owns 22,000 works and keeps on commissioning young, African artists. [Piece is from 2019]

Legal Twitter - a summary of fruitless activity. This working week I have toured north London & the West Midlands, pointlessly. Yesterday I left home bright &early to go the Hendon Mags for an all-day deportation appeal. I got there at 9am. The cells told me my client 1/5

Sunak, I suspect, thinks that he will be a prime minister with more integrity than Johnson just because he is a better person. He probably is. But he hasn't understood that integrity begins with personal relations, by not behaving petulantly and childishly, by setting an example.
