Judges
Attendance at a Judge Seminar, and passing the associated examination, is a prerequisite for an application to become a Regional or National Judge.
Conferences are listed in the Keeping Up To Date for existing Judges wishing to renew.
Judge Seminars
These Seminars are organised by the RYA, typically two or three Seminars per year around the UK with normally one of these at RYA House. They are spread to get maximum participation, including Seminars in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland in the last two years. The Instructors for these Seminars are approved by the RYA Judging and Umpiring Committee. At the end of the Seminar, a 50 question multi-choice exam is set with a 50% pass mark. A pass in this exam gives the candidate the exam pass requirement for the Regional Judge qualification. Additionally, there is a second exam which consists of three questions on protests and protest procedures; a pass in both exams at 65% or higher is one of the requirements for the National Judge qualification.
