Making the most of your legacy

Thousands of schools and colleges across the UK were inspired by the London 2012 Games and, through Get Set, are demonstrating their commitment to using the Olympic and Paralympic Values as a powerful force for change and improvement. But, the true legacy of that electric summer in 2012 lies in the future.

Get Set is committed to helping schools and colleges sustain their engagement with the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Values over the longer term, so that teachers, children and young people can be key players in the legacy. We hope you will help us to keep ‘inspiring a generation’.

To support you, we have created a toolkit in partnership with the Department for Education. The toolkit provides practical support and ideas for creating a lasting, Games-inspired, Values-based legacy in your school or college community. It is designed to enhance your whole-school/college development priorities, encourage pupil leadership and add impetus to any existing partnership programmes you already have in place or wish to develop in the future.

As well as highlighting the most relevant projects and activities from existing Get Set resources and programmes, the toolkit also offers three brand new projects that will get your legacy plans off to a flying start or give you fresh ideas and additional guidance for your existing legacy projects. Keep the Values at the heart of your planning and delivery and you’ll stay on track.
