Android App with a lot of improvements!
Today we have released a new version of our Windfinder Android App. We added a lot of improvements, here are the biggest new features:
- Better support for tablets: in landscape mode, you will see a list of favorites on the left hand side, making it easier to switch between your favorite locations
- Share the current forecast or report via Email, Facebook or Google+. Or simply store it in your personal Dropbox!
- Deep linking support: when clicking on a link to Windfinder in another app, you can choose to open it in the Windfinder Android App, too!
- Updated the forecast range to more than seven days in the future
- Faster and improved data loading
With this version you are ready for the new summer season! Google Play on your Android device will notify you about the new update or you can download the Windfinder Android App directly from Google Play.
New Version of Windfinder Android App
Today we have released a new version 1.5.0 of our Windfinder Android App. We have tweaked the readability especially in low wind speeds. The superforecast, our high resolution forecast model (available in the Pro version of our app) is now updated more frequently. The search function is now working faster, and there were some more minor bugfixes and improvements.
The update is available on the Windfinder page on Google Play. If you already have installed the app, you will be notified about the update by Google Play.
Windfinder App for Android updated
New versions of the Windfinder Apps (Free + Pro) for Android smartphones are available in the Android Market. A serious bug with updating the list of available weather stations has been fixed so we strongly recommend you to update to the new version. Your Android smartphone will notify you that a new version is available.
New windsurfing, kiteboarding and surfing T-shirts in Windfinder Shop
Windfinder introduces new windsurfing, kiteboarding and surfing t-shirts in the Windfinder online fashion shop. The shirts were designed by Peruvian artist and surfer Felipe Herrera Gianino who currently resides in Münster/Germany.

2009 was a year where we added many new features and additions to windfinder.com. In this year, we have added translations for Windfinder in 15 languages besides English and German: French, Spanish Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, Turkish, Indonesian, Greek, Korean, Danish, Tagalog and Finnish. Thanks to all translators for their work! If you want to help us to translate windfinder.com in your language, don’t hesitate to contact us!
During this year, we have made significant improvements to our Superforecast weather prediction model. We have added a high-resolution Superforecast for Egypt and also improved the accuracy of our Superforecasts for Europe. In addition to that, we have added Superforecast maps for North America.
We also updated our widgets and gadgets for many platforms, including a big new release of Windfox, our popular Firefox extension which has been downloaded more than 60000 times until now. The biggest release was the launch of the Windfinder iPhone app which was a huge success worldwide: the app became #1 weather app in 36 countries worldwide, including Germany, UK and Russia and was featured in “New and noteworthy” in the iTunes App Store.
Of course we also published a lot of event reports for different kite- and windsurfing tours, including the PKRA kitesurfing world tour, the PWA windsurfing world tour, the German windsurf cup and the German Kitesurf-Trophy. We also did a lot of interviews with popular wind- and kitesurfers. Since 2009, you can also follow us on Twitter and become a fan of windfinder.com on Facebook.
