Inland Waterways crew course

The Inland Waterways Crew Course is an entry level course which can be run in conjunction with an Inland Waterways Helmsman's Course, and would be great for families who would all benefit from being trained and involved to various levels.

The course covers all the basics of being a useful crew member, including personal safety; communication on board; throwing a mooring line; some basic boat handling; helping in locking operations; how to be a good look out; what to do in an emergency and looking after the environment.

This course is now live and the syllabus will be added to the RYA Inland Waterways Handbook shortly.

Your existing recognition and instructor qualifications will automatically cover you for running the new course, and there is no additional investment required.

The Inland Waterways Crew course can be taught by Inland Waterways Helmsman’s Instructors.

If you want to offer this course, please email tricia.leeson-smith@rya.org.uk with your centre's name and state that you wish to offer the Inland Waterways Crew course. We can then add that course to your recognition, which will enable you to order certificates and will allow potential students to see that you are offering it via our web search.
