The data team is responsible for Onavo’s full data processing flows; processing the raw data and applying statistical methodologies at scale. Our work involves development of systems and tools for data collection, data processing, data correction, data monitoring, and much more, and serves the entire units in the organization. We are looking for a very autonomous engineer, who is experienced with various technologies, is a fast learner and has a "get things done" mentality.

Responsibilities

  • Build data solutions that help product and business teams at Facebook to make data driven decisions
  • Rethink and influence strategy and roadmap for building scalable data solutions and scalable data warehouse environment
  • Design the system architecture to process massive amounts of data in scalable ways
  • Implementing the processes, handling performance, scale, availability, accuracy and monitoring
  • Leverage homegrown ETL framework as well as off-the-shelf ETL tools, as appropriate
  • Create actionable dashboards and unique data visualizations
  • Communicating with various positions in the company (Dev, Product, Research, Operations, QA, BI) and customers

Requirements

  • IDF technological units or B.Sc. or M.Sc. Computer Science/related field
  • Passionate about data
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with dynamic programming languages such as Python or Ruby. Experience with writing ETLs a plus
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms a plus
  • Experience with large-scale production databases
  • Experience and knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, HBase, Hive, Presto
  • Experienced with backend web development such as Ruby on Rails/Node.js/Django
  • Skilled with the Linux shell and bash scripting
