Facebook is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to help us port the world’s best PHP run-time on servers based on ARM processors. We have built a new virtual machine for PHP (the HipHopVM) that increases the efficiency of our web servers as they serve the millions of web requests per second that make Facebook.com work. We aim to evaluate further improving the efficiency of our web tier by porting HipHopVM to new server hardware platforms based on power-efficient ARM. The position is full-time and is based in our main office in Menlo Park. There are minimal travel requirements for this position.
Requirements
- Knowledge of PHP
- Experience with code generation and optimization for ARM processors
- Experience building large-scale server applications
- Experience with operating system internals, filesystems, programming language design
