Data Center Site Selection Program Manager

Locating, developing and managing the data center infrastructure the "right" way is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability, flexibility and capital and operational cost efficiency. Facebook is seeking an experienced, organized and outgoing individual to join the Site Selection Team and help manage our rapidly scaling data center property portfolio. A strong Site Selection Program Manager candidate has a keen ability to think both strategically and analytically, develop out-­‐of-­‐the box solutions, and is able to navigate the challenges that accompany projects of large magnitude. The Site Selection Program Manager is also tenacious and results driven and an excellent project manager. An ability to communicate effectively, form partnerships and influence and drive stakeholders (both internal and external) is a requirement for this position. This position is full-­‐time and located in our Menlo Park office.

Responsibilities

  • Support due diligence and site selection efforts by compiling and analyzing geographical location and specific prospective site information, including (i) regional market data, (ii) real estate cost and permitting data, (iii) information regarding federal, state and local taxes and incentives, (iv) data on energy (including renewable energy), water and wastewater availability and cost, (v) network connectivity, and (vi) legal, physical risk and financial implications.
  • Take the lead role in organizing communications and creating scalable processes with key internal and external stakeholders in support of the site selection effort, including capacity planning, data center design and construction, network engineering, legal, tax, policy and finance.
  • Support the preparation of project location recommendations for presentation to senior management for approval.
  • Oversee maintenance of relationships with our third party data center providers, including developing analytics, troubleshooting in collaboration with onsite ops teams and addressing contract issues, such as the execution of estoppels, SNDAs, notices and renewals.
  • Support the development of Facebook’s near-­‐ and long-­‐term data center strategy based on user and market projections, disaster and failover planning, existing infrastructure, serving requirements and input from key internal stakeholders, including capacity planning, network, legal, policy and tax.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline required
  • Advanced technical degree or MBA highly desirable
  • Data center development or real estate capital program management experience desirable
  • Procurement, leases or contracts experience required
  • Financial analysis experience highly desirable
  • Must be experienced and capable of working cooperatively with internal partners and external consultants
  • Must have excellent communications skills
  • Must be familiar with Excel and Powerpoint
