InfrastructureHardware Engineer, Flash Storage

Facebook is looking for an experienced Flash storage hardware engineer for the Server Hardware Engineering team. We are actively evaluating flash storage solutions in different areas which include flash boot devices, high performance low latency flash drives and archival storage. By building cost effective and high density flash storage, it can significantly enhance our capability to support our rapidly growing data storage requirements across our infrastructure. This position is full time and located in our Austin TX office.
Responsibilities
- Define architecture and specifications for flash storage solutions
- Engage with flash and controller vendors to ensure design alignment with their roadmap
- Engage vendors to ensure products meet specification and review schematic/layout design files
- Bring up new flash storage designs
- Test designs for functionality and power efficiency
- Engage software teams to ensure application compatibility and performance
- Engage deployment teams to ensure smooth product introduction
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with electronic design and bring up of server systems
- Experience with high speed board design and board bring-up
- Experience with Power conversion and failure protection
- Experience designing/tuning with PCIe, DDR2/3, and ideally SATA/SAS.
- Experience with schematic and PCB CAD software
- Experience with hardware testing methodologies and have a hands on approach when testing
- Detail oriented communication and documentation skills Plus
- Experience with MMC, UFS, SSDs, TOGGLE, ONFI, PCIe switches, and NVME
