Day Skipper Theory Power and Sail
This course is a comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexperienced skippers and is an essential preparation for our RYA Day Skipper Practical course. The Day Skipper Theory Course is divided into three weekends.
The first weekend, part 1 includes:

- Tidal Streams
- Secondary Ports
- Position Fixing
- Dead Reckoning
- Estimated Position
The second weekend, part 2 includes:
Day 3
- Course to Steer
- Using the GPS
- Chart Work Exam
- Buoyage & Pilotage
- Safety
- Meterology
- Passage Planning
- Collision Regulations
The third weekend, part 3 includes:
Day 5
- Passage Making
- General Exam
Course Objective: You will be able to navigate around familiar waters by day
Course Assessment: Two exam papers
Prerequisite: Competent Crew Practical or Equivalent Experience
