It’s all about keeping fit through the winter, ready for the season ahead! This winter I will be training with Jo Andrews down at Crossfit P10 in Cheltenham!
Quarterpipe @ Cables Wake Park, Australia
As the nights are drawing in at home in the UK and our beloved lakes are threatening to freeze over, the lucky Aussies down under are just getting ready for their summer season to kick off!
Having spent much of the last 6 years travelling to wakeboard contests around the globe, I have been lucky enough to make some great friends in some sweet riding spots. So, when I got taken to Sydney with work at the start of the month, it seemed crazy not to go and visit fellow competitor Courtney Angus who lives just outside of the city in Penrith at her home riding spot Cables Wake Park. Having recently won the obstacles division at the WWA Worlds, Courtney is ripping (dropping mobes and 7’s off the kickers with ease) and has been a great inspiration to ride with. Current UK women’s National Champion Tor Young has also escaped down under to get involved in some warm Aussie weather, so I’ve had a really motivating girlie crew to ride with.
Not only does Cables Wake Park have both clockwise and anti-clockwise cables (packed full of obstacles) running side by side, but they also have two system 2.0’s. One is for beginners to learn on and the other plays host to a flat bar, kicker and huge quarterpipe. Having had little opportunity to ride a quarterpipe before, I made it my mission to get to the top, learn some stalls and then pop up and get some grabs too. I’m certainly no expert, but it has been one of the most fun obstacles I’ve ever hit on a wakeboard and I would highly recommend it to anyone (especially if you like riding pipe on a snowboard). It takes some perseverance and a fair few bruises on the bum, but when you start to get the hang of it, the buzz you get from popping that little but higher each time is super addictive!
Just a few more days of sunshine left now, then I’ll be packing up my bikinis and getting out my 5:3 like the rest of the UK’s dedicated shredders! See you back at WMski…!

Fuelled by Flapjack!!
Last night I was wakeboard coaching at another girls’ ride evening at Lagoon Watersports in Hove, Brighton! It was an awesome event and all the girls absolutely loved the Nutrichef flapjacks that I brought down for tasting… I am sure that the flapjack power helped them all learn something new on the water too!! #fuelledbyflapjack
Salford Wake Battles!
Awesome day on the 2.0 in Manchester at the Salford Wake Battles and super stoked to win and my best riding bussy Jo Andrews taking second. Thanks to everyone for organising such a sweet event.
Check out my interview with ShockRadio at Salford Quays on Sunday 26 May, live from the wake battles! You can also listen to little up and coming shredder Jessie Knight chat about the event… she is totally one to watch for the future!
Check out more pics from the event here.
Girls Day at Lagoon Watersports
Awesome day down in Bright with Lucy McCormick and all the Crew at Lagoon Watersports!
Got involved in some paddleboarding and windsurfing, before coaching on the wakeboard system 2.0 with my good buddy Sarah Kingdom! It was awesome to see so many girls out on the water getting active and all 30 girls learnt something new on the wakeboard. Whether it was getting up for the first time or hitting the box or doing a 180… everyone progressed and came away smiling (which is obviously the most important thing)!
Huge thanks to Animal for providing a load of super cool handbags as prizes for the girls who participated and Wide A Wake for all the goodie bags!
I will be wakeboard coaching at Lagoon Watersports again on the 11th June, so get in touch and head down!
New 2013 Liquid Force kit!
Absolutely loving my new LF setup! I am riding the Jett Grind 136 this year with Harley boots. Really excited to be back on a stiff board this season as it is so much fun for water tricks… it really locks in when you are cutting, feels super controlled when you release and then nice and solid on landings.
The Harley boots are great again this year. They have loads of cushioning and support around the ankle, giving you heaps of control on the water. Loving the bright colours too… You can’t beat a bit of poppy fluoro!!
