Competent Crew - 5 Continuous Days
RYA Competent Crew Courses Over 5 Consecutive Days - Monday - Friday -
You will stay aboard the yacht and depending on weather conditions you will be sailing across to France or heading towards the solent, staying in different ports to give you as much sailing experience as possible, covering all the syllabus of RYA Competent Crew. This RYA Competent Crew course is a ‘hands on’ practical course that teaches you the basic principles of sailing, as well as personal safety.
You will learn basic:
• Helmsmanship
• Sail handling
• Ropework
• Essential safety procedures
• Rules of the road
• Meteorology
• Man overboard
• Manners & customs
Course Objective: These skills will enable you to become a valuable crew member. You will be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout and be able to assist in all the daily routines.

Learn to sail a yacht over two weekends with the RYA Competent Crew weekend sailing course. This a ‘hands on’ practical course that teaches you the basic principles of sailing, as well as personal safety.

The second weekend: Part 2 (Friday night till Monday afternoon), will be spent in the Solent from Gosport where you will spend three nights aboard the yacht. (See tab above for course dates for the part 2)

This is a ‘hands on’ practical course that teaches you the basic principles of sailing, as well as personal safety. This is a 3 day course starting on a Friday night and finishing on the Monday around 4pm. This course is a continuation from the Competent Crew Part 1.
This second weekend , part 2 (Friday night till Monday afternoon), will be spent in the Solent from Gosport where you will spend three nights aboard the yacht.

New to sailing? The advanced crew package sets you up not just as competent crew but also invaluable learning of Navigation and the VHF radio. The package includes the RYA Competent Crew course which is 5 days long either run during the week Monday to Friday or split over two weekends with the second weekend running Friday night to Monday.The Dayskipper Theory course is best taken after your Competent crew course and we mainly run these over 3 weekends, which you can either do over consecutive weekends or split over several months.
The GMDSS radio course is 1 day, this gives you essential knowledge and practice of using the radio for emergency distress situation as well as very practical general usage.
Once you have completed this package to become a skipper you only need to complete the Dayskipper practical.
