Courses can start any day of the year.
Courses can be taken using desktop PCs, Mac and Tablet computers.
When you book a course you can select from three start options:
Start today: | Book before 16:30 hrs Monday to Friday UK time and your login details will be sent to you before close of businness, this gives you the quickest access to the course modules. Bookings received after this time or over weekends and holidays will receive login details on the next working day. This option only applies to the 'Online' or 'Download' formats, please see below for details. You will still need to await the delivery of your pack containing RYA Training Charts 3 and 4 for any chartwork related topics. |

Using the RYA syllabus, the course has been carefully built into six tutorial and assessment modules.
Each module is divided into a series of topics each with interactive and fully illustrated teaching material that provides you with a progressive and logical route to understanding. The seventh module is reserved for the final assessment. The text is illustrated with over 270 high quality illustrations & video extracts from John Goode's excellent Masterclass series.
Course Duration - Tailored to suit you
Research shows that to complete a course of study students benefit from a defined structure with deadlines, otherwise study tends to take second place to other demands. We have designed this course to have an average duration of 7 weeks to enable students to pace themselves. However we appreciate the need for flexibility, which is why the course can studied at any pace from 1 week up to a maximum of 12 months. This allows you to spread your study over a period to suit you.
How does the system work ?
- You will receive your student support pack, containing all you need to complete the course, through the post. Detailed list of pack contents
- You will be assigned a fully qualified RYA instructor who will mark your assessment exercises and guide you through the complete course.
- You begin at module 1 of the study material and assessment questions.
- You study the material subject by subject and practice what you have learned using the RYA assessment questions and other exercises.
- To submit your answers for marking you logon to the training site, www.cmtraining.co.uk, and access the answer form. Once completed you submit the form to your instructor.
- As soon as the answers are submitted you can instantly check your work using the online answer system.
- These assessments are also evaluated by your instructor, typically within 2 hours. Results and feedback are then returned to you by e-mail.
- This process is continued throughout the course and since every module is designed to allow you to work progressively you'll have fun and gain satisfaction with your increasing knowledge from day one.
- One-to-one tuition is available from your instructor so you should never feel alone if you experience a problem.
- Your instructor can be contacted by e-mail, via www.cmtraining.co.uk, phone or Skype.
- The final assessment questions are downloaded from the training site, but as we need see your final chartwork, your answers must be scanned and attached to an e-mail or posted to us by regular mail for marking.
- Provided you have passed the course your certificate will be posted to you.

Computer Requirements & Course Formats
Our courses come in four ‘flavours’ or formats. Not all formats are compatible with all operating systems or browsers.
The formats available are:
Online: | Accessed via the Internet just as you would with any web site. |
Download: | Each module is downloaded from our web site and installed on your PC. |
CD: | Modules are supplied on a CD and installed on your PC. |
SD Card: | Modules are supplied on a Micro SD card and installed on your PC. We also supply an adapter which enables the Micro card to be used in a standard SD slot. |
In addition, you will also have access to the online Tablet format so you can study 'on the move'.
