RS200

RS 200 Fleet Captain Report 

2013 saw a slow and steady start to the fleet; this was down to fleet members involved with the construction of the clubhouse. We also saw members of the fleet upgrading to the new design of 200’s. We have some new members to the fleet along with the potential for more at the start of 2014.  

New to the fleet is James Penty Crewed by George Stainforth, great to get some young blood in the fleet. I know that they will add to some good racing to 2014 I am sure. 

Martin Crewed by Tom Penty and Steve Hanby Crewed by myself along with Emma Grayson Crewed by Michael Penty dominated the fleet racing at Beaver this year. The fleet did see some past 200 sailors return such as Tony Wetherell and Julie Harris giving the fleet a welcome boost. Through the back end of the year we had at peak 6 200’s out all giving some really good enjoyable racing.   

Great to see Sam Waller a potential new helm to the fleet sailing with Andrew Clarke, this was another boat to the fleet and gave Sam some experience in the 200, especially in the strong winds which we had at the later end of the year. It was great to also see dad Tim out crewing for Tony, on occasion lacking navigational skills. 

I have stepped in as Phil has not been able to sail due to a problem with his hands, although undergoing treatment he is hoping to be back sailing in 2014 which will be another boat to the fleet. 

I hope 2014 will be an exciting time for the RS200 fleet. Hopefully we will be able to get a group together and attend some of the Rs200 opens. There is some new blood and new helm and crew lineups within the fleet. 

I look forward to seeing you all on the water in what will be hopefully a great sailing year!
