Mirror

2013/14 has been another great year for the Mirror fleet. Numbers competing in the club racing have been steady and regular. It has been a pleasure to see a number of Mirror sailors become very successful in the club results! Bob Towler won the Early Bird, Spring and Summer points. The Wednesday points were dominated by Andrew and his super crew Jack Francis-Burnett, winning both, well done!

I mentioned in last year’s mirror report to watch out for Reg and George Stainforth and I wasn’t wrong. Winning Early Birds, but away from the club the pair won the Scottish Nationals and the Nationwide series. They were second in the Mirror Nationals and 14^th in the Mirror World Championships at Lough Derg, Ireland. What a summer!

Also away from the club Emma and Ben won the first Mirror Youth and Junior Nationals, held at Northampton and also the Mirror Northern Travellers circuit. They came 12^th in the Mirror Nationals and 15^th in the Mirror Worlds. Tom Dean and Ellie Benn won at Filey and came third overall in the traveller series.

 But the best result for a member of the Beaver Sailing Club Mirror Section was Sarah and George Richards, who came 2^nd overall in the Mirror World Championships.

I now say a new partnership is emerging, Reg and Gemma Francis-Burnett. Already winners of the Junior Regatta and Mirror Inlands (at Beaver), they seem to be a dream team. So watch out club members and on the Mirror circuit, HERE COME THE GIRLS.

 I would like to thank all the mirror sailors for their support for the fleet and all their help with the new clubhouse.  Big thanks to everyone involved for your much appreciated help throughout the year. Have a great 2014/15! See you on the water.
