Facebook is seeking an expert in online safety to join our public policy team. This will report to our Head of Global Policy.
Responsibilities
- Providing feedback on the safety implications of our products
- Liaising with safety partners and academic experts on public policy
- Speaking at major safety events
- Analyzing legislative initiatives and influencing policy makers
- You will be our local expert on Facebook’s products and safety
- You will have a wide range of internal partners, since safety is a shared mission across the company
- You will work in tandem with the in-country policy teams in the region
Requirements
- Candidates should have a strong background in online safety with proven expertise in evaluating the implications of new products and features and proficiency in presenting publicly
- Knowledge of the online safety landscape in EMEA (organizations, research, best practices) is a must
- 5+ years of experience with online safety and technology policy issues
- Understanding of applicable regulatory and self-regulatory regimes
- Excellent knowledge of Facebook products, features, and platform
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to make sound judgments under tight deadlines
- Ability to think and move quickly and to juggle many different projects at once
- Demonstrated ability to find pragmatic and creative solutions to business issues and provide concise and business-focused advice
- Strong communication, analytical and writing skills
- Proactive work ethic and strong interpersonal skills
- Experience working with a web 2.0 or social networking company on safety issues would be a plus
- Excellent academic credentials
