The Solutions Engineering team is an external-facing engineering team working with Facebook partners who are advertising clients, PMDs (Preferred Marketing Developers: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/preferredmarketingdevelopers) and Agencies to integrate Facebook’s ads technologies. As a Solutions Engineer, you are the engineering lead of your assigned partners and are responsible for developing their Facebook technology strategy and executing on it. This includes writing code to fill gaps in Facebook’s own products as needed. You will spend 50% of your time working with product engineering teams and writing code (e.g. enhancing existing products, building high quality reference implementations and more) and 50% working directly with partners. This is an engineering role that is driven by business objectives and measured by impact on partners’ and Facebook’s business. This role is located in our Menlo Park, CA HQ.

Responsibilities

  • Split time nearly evenly between hands-on coding and consulting with/guiding partners
  • Deeply understand Facebook technologies including:
  • -Ads and Pages API (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/ads-api)
  • -Identity Platform (http://developers.facebook.com/products/login/)
  • -Parse (http://developers.facebook.com/products/parse/)
  • Deeply understand the Business ecosystem, identify problems and solutions for Businesses
  • Establish yourself as the engineering lead of Facebook technologies for your assigned partners
  • Provide consultative guidance to partners
  • Handle technology-related support escalations for high priority assigned partners

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience
  • Experience (3+ years preferred) building high-performance, large-scale server applications and reliable software developed in (at least one) Python, PHP, Ruby, C#, Objective-C or Java
  • Excellent communication skills including experience speaking to a technical and business audiences and writing technical articles
  • Experience in a client-facing role or ability to lead cross functional initiatives
  • Ability to independently and quickly ramp up on new technologies
  • Ideal Characteristics:
  • -Deep knowledge in one or more of the following industries: ads technology, gaming, or e/m-commerce
  • -Experience as a software architect, VP, or director of engineering in a small start-up
  • -Experience in public speaking and blogging
