Facebook is seeking an experienced Mobile Infrastructure Production Engineer. The position is full-time and is based in our main office in Menlo Park. There are minimal travel requirements for this position.
Responsibilities
- Work on mobile infrastructure systems including SMS systems, push notifications, and other types of messaging
- Design and implement software systems for management of mobile infrastructure
- Review code, create tests, and document software systems for mobile products
- Engineer tools for scalable, reliable infrastructures for queuing of messages, carrier binds, VPNs, etc.
- Define, plan, and successfully execute high-value projects to improve mobile infrastructure, monitoring, and automation
- Work through all facets of the carrier lifecycle (bringing new carriers onboard, troubleshooting connection issues with current carriers, and removing carriers)
- Work directly with site reliability operations, application operations, and infrastructure engineering teams to improve performance and reliability of mobile products, as well as to continue infrastructure growth
- Externally as well as internally facing – have the ability to interface directly with carriers and internal engineering teams
- Triage issues according to priority and work with engineers to resolve
- Create and maintain carrier onboarding information and technical documentation
- Serve in an on-call rotation as an escalation contact for service trouble incidents
- Work to improve and automate related processes and reduce human interaction required
- Take on additional projects in the mobile infrastructure or mobile engineering realm
Requirements
- 3-5 years of work experience in the mobile space
- Expert understanding of SMS/MMS/notification/messaging systems and related infrastructure management
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent advanced degree
- Experience working with mobile security
- Expertise in Shell, PHP, Perl, or Python
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work cross functionally
- Experience partnering with external vendors
