Facebook is seeking an experienced professional to lead strategic communications for Facebook’s product, corporate, privacy, safety and security efforts in Latin America. The successful candidate will not only have the skills and experience to execute effective communication campaigns but also be able to build substantive programs and relationships with media, advocacy groups, and other relevant entities that will support Facebook’s goals in these areas. Candidates should be excellent writers, with strong experience in developing and executing high-profile regional technology, consumer, marketing, and/or policy communications efforts, managing press relations, and handling corporate or policy issues. This is a full-time position located in Facebook’s Sao Paulo, Buenos Aries or Miami office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and messaging for and execute communications programs and initiatives to support Facebook’s product, corporate, privacy, safety and security efforts
  • Educate users, press, bloggers, analysts and influencers about core Facebook products and initiatives in Latin America
  • Protect and enhance the reputation of Facebook and its products
  • Build and manage a lean in-house regional communications team
  • Drive positive coverage in Latin American media
  • Work closely with external PR agencies to lead proactive and reactive PR for our products and initiatives
  • Interface and consult regularly with cross-functional and -regional teams across the company
  • Support and manage the creation of press materials
  • Organize press briefings, media sessions, and events
  • Prepare briefing materials and manage executive spokespeople

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree, post-graduate or professional degrees preferred
  • 10+ years professional experience, both agency and in-house preferred
  • Experience working with corporate, technology, and business media and bloggers to achieve communications goals
  • Deep knowledge of concepts and technologies for online advertising, search marketing and social networking
  • Outstanding project management, judgment, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and autonomously
  • Multilingual (English, Spanish and/or Portuguese) communications skills
  • Experience in managing PR agencies and contractors
  • Experience in the Internet technology industry with Latin America exposure a plus
  • Passion for Facebook essential
