The club is hosting the finals of the junior RYA winter training events on the weekend of 10th and 11th May. This is known as the ET final. The Eric Twiname trust support this event in a variety of ways. We need your help with a few on site duties from Friday night 4.30pm through to Sunday afternoon.
The time we need help the most is from 7.30 to 11.30 on the Saturday morning and again from about 7.45 for a couple of hours on Sunday.
The main task is to assist in the parking of visitors boats and cars. If you can help for a couple of hours at any time during the weekend please email Pete Ashworth This email address is being protected from spambots. Junior sailing started last week with 17 of our junior sailors taking to the water and showing that they had not forgotten a thing – in fact being deprived of their sport through the winter seemed to have improved their sailing. The gods looked favorably upon us giving a mixture of sun and wind. Day one brought light winds and started with everyone telling 2 truths and 1 lie about their sailing followed by choosing which statement best summed up their feelings about sailing. After this we took to the water with those in drysuits helping everyone else get under way without getting too wet and cold. The light winds enabled everyone to get on the water – some on the front of a Topper. The younger girls chose to stay on the shore and get in some hula hoop practice.
We are hoping to run a VHF course on Monday 28 April.
The cost of this is £80 at booking and then a further £60 on the day.
If you would be interested in attending the course, please telephone the office.
Junior Racing
This is a new series and aims to get some of our younger sailors out on the race course enjoying each other’s company and improving their skills. It is not a replacement for sailing courses and a certain level of self-reliance will be required.
The racing will start at 2pm and there will hopefully be 3 races back to back
