London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition
Weymouth and Portland, Great Britain

Lee Korzits (ISR), 2011 and 2012 world champion, enjoyed a great start to her London 2012 campaign with a win in the opening race in the Women's RS:X windsurfing class in winds up to 17 knots on Tuesday.
A third in the second race puts her in second after the first day of racing in the class. Korzits rounded the first mark in the opening race just behind Marina Alabau (ESP) but by mark two was ahead and went on to win by 18 seconds.

Olga Maslivets (UKR), competing at her fourth Olympic Games, took third. In the second race, sailed in 15 knots of wind, Alabau led at the first mark from Maslivets and Korzits.

Alabau went on to lead at every mark and at the finish won by 33 seconds giving her the overall lead at the end of the first day.

Zofia Noceti-Klepacka (POL) pulled through from fifth at the first mark to finish in second place leaving her third overall. Korzits rounded out a good day on the waters off Weymouth and Portland with a third which put her in second overall.

The Women's RS:X resume on 1 August at 14:00 local time on the Portland Harbour course.
