Sailors on the Athlete Participation Programme at the 41st ISAF Youth Worlds will benefit from the coaching of Hugh Styles throughout the duration of the championship.
Styles, who sailed the Tornado at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Sailing Competition, has a wealth of experience and will support the 27 sailors from 13 nations.

"We've been in contact with the athletes before the event so we have an idea of who they are, what they've done and asked them how they've prepared and make sure we've linked in with them,"
said Styles.

"It's important the athletes come here knowing that this is a serious regatta and that there is opportunities to perform on the world stage."

For the sailors attending they are touching new grounds and experiencing different cultures, and Styles will help the youngsters to adapt to their surroundings, "I think the biggest thing for all of them is to experience a new place and learn how to perform under pressure at an international event.

"This is the first stage in their sailing career where they have a chance to shine and many people have gone on to great success for example Ben Ainslie and Iain Percy."

And Styles has a strong structure which will help the athletes throughout the week, "On a daily basis we will look and review where they're at with their individual aspirations of achievement. So we need to be specific about what each of them can achieve and it needs to be tailored to them."

Watch a full interview with Hugh Styles here as he talks about the World Youth Sailing Trust, Athlete Participation Programme, the goals he has set athletes and what he hopes they can achieve throughout the week at the ISAF Youth Worlds in Zadar, Croatia.

Sailing begins on Saturday 9 July with 12 races scheduled until Friday 15 July.
