    Waiting On A Wheel......

It is never ideal when you arrive at a venue to prepare for a World Championships that start a few days later only to discover that all the sailors’ kit and your RIB are stuck in Germany courtesy of a blown wheel bearing but this was the news that greeted us on Tuesday as we headed to Denmark!

    Relaxed For The Worlds

When you have had a bit of time away from the board it’s always a little pain painful getting your body used to windsurfing again.

Best Day of Sailing This Year!

Probably the best day sailing so far this year today!!!! Out in Hayling bay with the sun shining gust of over 30 knots and a big sea running, pretty exhilarating stuff. Life was made even better with the arrival of new wetsuits this morning nice.....

    Medal Race, Sail for Gold

Hello all, well sadly Peter and I ended the Sail for Gold on a very gutting note. We felt we had a great plan and were feeling great before the start of the medal race today.

Day 3 in the 470 class

The event so far has been pretty interesting. Stuart and I like heavy breeze and waves and yesterday really played to our strengths. In particular the cross swell that comes into the bay, is a really difficult condition to sail and being local to the area and spending a lot of time training in the waters of Weymouth and Portland we are used to sailing it and handle it well.

    VIDEO: Day Two Round-up

Strong winds were the dominant feature on day two of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta, with postponements rife across the race courses in Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour.

    The story so far......

Big breeze yesterday for Day 2 in Weymouth and some long days on the water for a lot of classes. The day started really light but as the boats left the slip way the breeze built and we ended up with up to 30 knot gusts, needless to say it was some wet ‘n’ windy racing and all of the coaches who were out on the water were pretty drenched too, I had some guests in the RIB with me and it was a fairly unglamorous day for boating!

    The event gets underway!

Today saw a solid start for Skandia Team GBR, I am pleased to have the regatta underway now so that we can shake off any pre-regatta nerves and finally get into racing after a lot of preparation by the sailors and the team that support them on and off the water. Today’s conditions were quite tricky and shifty and as Nick Dempsey has said on his earlier blog, not very Weymouth like. However we are pleased that we have sailable conditions today, reflecting on last year where it was blowing 20 knots plus for a lot of the regatta and we spent quite a lot of time sitting ashore postponed.

    Solid first day

Good day on the water for me in Weymouth and Portland with a first and a fifth. It was a day of tricky conditions, very shifty and unstable and definetely not typical of a Weymouth breeze.

It’s the eve of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta – the biggest ISAF World Cup event so far, and certainly the biggest sailing event yet seen at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

    One week to go......

With under a week to go until racing starts at the 2010 Skandia Sail for Gold regatta, Alain and I are having a few days off. We always try to get some time off before any major regatta so that when we come back we are fully focussed on the task ahead. It feels odd sometimes being sat at home with nothing to do for a day, when usually it never feels like we have enough time in the day!

    The main event

Skandia Sail for Gold is our sole focus for the next 14 days. its basically been the main event for us in 2010. It’s at the Olympic venue, it’s the culmination of the ISAF Sailing World Cup so it’s a big deal and we’re looking forward to the competition
