Lloyd’s has announced a profit before tax of £3,205m with a combined ratio of 86.8% for the year ending 31 December 2013.

Financial Highlights:

• The market’s combined ratio of 86.8% compares favourably with our peers.
• Gross written premium reached a record high of £26.1bn.
• The Lloyd’s market is capitalised at record levels of over £21bn.
• Corporation and central assets now stand at £2.4bn.
• The market’s result for 2013 represented a pre-tax return on capital of 16.2% for the year, providing a five year average return of 12.8%.
