ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards 1995

The 1995 ISAF World Sailor of the Year Awards were held in on 5 November 1995. The presenters for the evening were World Champion sailors, Gary Jobson (USA) and 1994 Female World Sailor of the Year Teresa Zabell (ESP).

Male Winner - Russell COUTTS (NZL)

Russell Coutts (NZL)In recognition of his role as skipper of the New Zealand boat 'Black Magic' the winner of the 1995 America's Cup.

Female Winner - Isabelle AUTISSIER (FRA)

Isabelle Autissier (FRA)In recognition of her triumph in Leg 1 of the 1994/95 BOC Challenge (Charleston - Cape Town), won by a margin of 1,200 miles, setting a race record of 35 days, 8 hours, 52 minutes.

Christophe AUGUIN (FRA)

Christophe Auguin (FRA)1st - Class I BOC Challenge, by winning 3 out of the 4 legs (also won BOC in 1991)

Isabelle AUTISSIER (FRA)

Isabelle Autissier (FRA)1st Leg 1 BOC Challenge (Solo Round the World Race).
Made yachting history by being the first woman to win a leg of the BOC, and by winning with a 1,200 mile lead over the next boat.

Lisa CLAYTON (GBR)

Lisa Clayton (GBR)Unassisted single-handed circumnavigation under sail in 285d, Oh, 26m, 27s. Only the third by a lady.

Sally CUTHBERT (GBR)

Sally Cuthbert (GBR) 1st 1995 IYRU Nautica Word Youth Sailing Championship - girls double-handed discipline.

Sally also won the discipline in 1994 and 1993.

Don Mickleborough is 70 years old. Also past winner of five major ocean races and three Australian ocean races.
