The Portuguese city of Cascais, a cosmopolitan coastal town 30 kilometres west of the capital Lisbon, was the host of the 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships. Racing was held out of the Clube Naval de Cascais on the Bay of Cascais.
The venue extends from the Marina, around the Cascais Fort, the Yacht Club and finally the Beach which is located in front of the Town Hall.
On-shore facilities will include:
- Eight boat-park areas
- Each area will have water, electrical power and rubbish containers.
- The Marina and the Club are well equipped with toilet and shower facilities, reducing the need for temporary ones
- Storage space for the teams
- Shipping Containers and Trailers will be parked within 2 Kms from the Venue
Up to 8 race courses, over 3 major race areas, can be set dependant upon weather conditions, and the needs of the race calendar. The month of July is the most favorable not only in terms of weather and wind conditions, but also will allow enjoying the full tourism potential of the region.
