- The Crown Estate is a diverse property business with a capital value of £8.6 billion, and a total property value of £8.1 billion. The property we manage is owned by the Crown but is not the private property of the monarch. We are governed by an Act of Parliament and work supportively with government; in Westminster, in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and at a local level. In 2012/13 our net surplus (profit) of £252.6 million went to the Treasury for the benefit of the nation.

Residential & commercial lettings

Today an increasing number of both residential and commercial properties across the entire estate are let on long and short term leases through retained letting agents.

There are a wide range of residential properties to rent, from one-bedroom flats to large country houses. Some are located in the surrounding towns, such as Windsor, Ascot, Camberley and Bagshot, and others are located in more rural settings within the Great Park or Swinley Forest.

The Windsor estate also consists of a number of commercial properties, which range from grazing paddocks, riverside gardens and moorings to commercial offices, apartment blocks, various long leasehold properties, telecoms sites, public houses and fuelling stations.

Much of the day-to-day maintenance work on these properties is carried out by the estate's own in-house team of tradesmen, craftsmen and specialists.
