Whitsundays Yacht Charter

Sailing Conditions

General Conditions

The climate of the Whitsundays is sub-tropical, ensuring year-round warm, tropical weather. Lying in the shelter of the Great Barrier Reef, the seas around the Whitsundays are generally calm.

From April to September, seas are slight to moderate and winds are east-south-easterly to southerly, and stronger than in the summer, making some south-exposed anchorages unsuitable during winter months.

From October to March, lighter north-easterly winds prevail and seas are mostly smooth to slight.

Line-of-sight navigation between anchorages makes an Australian yacht charter within the capabilities of sailors with modest previous sailing experience.
