General Conditions

The Abacos, located in the Islands of the Bahamas east of Florida and north of Cuba, offer relaxed cruising with gentle trade winds, east to south-easterly in summer and north-easterly in winter, generally ranging from 5 – 10 knots (5 - 11 Mph).

An Abacos bareboat yacht charter offers easy line-of-sight sailing in shallow waters with short passages between well-protected anchorages. The tidal range is up to 1.3m (3 - 3.5 feet) and skippers need to play close attention at low tide due to shallow waters. This is a family-friendly destination suitable for sailors with basic competence and some previous experience.
