Paxos Flotilla

Sailing Conditions

General Conditions

The waters of the southern Ionian Sea are well-protected and the seas generally flat. The northern Ionian offers experienced sailors more of a challenge.

During the cruising season of April to October, sailors on a Paxos sailing charter can expect blue skies and warm weather.  From June ‘til September, the evenings are long, the sunsets spectacular, the winds gentle with occasional gusts and the seas generally calm.

In high season, water temperatures average 28 C.  Winds are generally north-westerly, increasing in the afternoons and ranging from 5 – 20 knots.

The tidal range is minimal, between one and two feet.

Mooring: Mainly stern to and using lazy lines, anchoring or buoys.
