Level 0 sailing courses are for sailors with no or minimal previous sailing experience and are designed to familiarise students with the basics of yacht sailing and inspire you to progress further.
On a Sunsail Level 0 course, our fully qualified RYA instructors will take you through the basics of steering, boat parts and rope work as well as basic safety on board.
These courses are ideal initial preparation for those who wish to join one of Sunsail’s Level 0 flotillas and will open up an incredible variety of sailing opportunities for the future.
Sunsail’s Flotilla Training Course provides the basic knowledge and experience needed to set sail on one of our Level 0 Flotillas to those with some previous boating experience. On completion, students will understand helming, berthing, reefing, general yacht handling and sailing as well as line of sight navigation.
At Port Solent, UK, and Vounaki, Greece, beginners can attend the 5 day ICC Course followed by an assessment and an exam to be awarded the International Certificate of Competence (ICC). The course is recommended for people planning to sail in Europe and the Mediterranean and is minimum requirement for sailing in Croatia and Greece.
This One Day Taster course has been designed by Sunsail’s dedicated training team to introduce novices to the basics of yacht sailing and provide the confidence to take things further. It’s an ideal way to get an idea of the freedom and excitement that lies ahead.
Sunsail’s RYA Start Yachting Course, which takes place over two days, provides a short introduction to sail cruising for complete beginners and requires no previous sailing experience.
The RYA Competent Crew course turns the complete beginner into an active and useful crew member. After this course, which is completed in 5 days, with 100 miles at sea in tidal waters and 4 night hours, you are qualified to embark on any of Sunsail’s Level 0 Easy flotillas.
