The Argentines ended up securing nine of the top ten places, with Sophie WEGUELIN and Sophie AINSWORTH (GBR) the only crew to break the dominance of the hosts in eighth place overall.

GAINZA and VILLAMBROSA sailed a 3,1,3,1 on Friday, giving them a nice lead going into the final race day Saturday. Posting a 10,1,12, with the 12 being one of their discards, their win was secure.

BETTINI and KELLER posted a 1,14,6 on the final race day to take the silver medal by three points from FERNANDEZ and MARTIROSJAN.

Light Conditions For Finale

Friday's conditions were scattered rain showers and winds in the 7-12 knot range. In the final gold fleet race on Friday, the fleet split and when they converged at the weather mark, the boats on the left came in with their spinnakers flying while the right side were still beating upwind!

Saturday's conditions proved in the lighter category as well.

In the silver fleet, Swiss sailors Nathalie KELLER and Irina HOTZ won the division followed by Americans Emily DELLENBAUGH and Briana PROVANCHA. Maria AGUSTINA and Franco GREGGI (ARG) rounded out the top three.

The Club Nautico San Isidro did an outstanding job hosting the 2007 29er World Championships.
