Volvo Ocean Race

Leaving the cold and crazy sailing of the Southern Ocean behind, the Volvo Ocean Race fleet felt the first notable difference in climate change this morning.
Leader illbruck is now only 850 miles from Eclipse Island off the southern Australian coast and have maintained her three-mile advantage over ASSA ABLOY.

"The survival suits are drying out and I am about to pack mine away, the sun is shining and we have a fantastic race one our hands - plenty to keep us busy between here and Sydney," wrote Jon Gunderson from Team News Corp earlier.

The mid-ocean drop off of medical supplies for Keith Kilpatrick on Amer Sports One went well yesterday with onboard doctor and navigator Roger Nilson explaining this morning that "Keith's condition is stable but certainly without the fluids from the Orion, his situation would have been very risky."

"Keith is in good spirits but realizes that he most likely has to leave the boat in order to get well. Race headquarters [in England] and the rescue people in Australia have done a fantastic job," added Nilson.
