A complex frontal system has remained stationary over southern Ireland for the first 3 days of the championship bringing a very moist south western airstream over Cork. In such conditions racing would have been impossible at most venues but in spite of the rain and drizzle the World Masters programme is on schedule and there has been some great racing in average 15 knots winds in the harbour.

Only in the Laser Radial fleet has there been a clear leader. Steve Cockerill from Great Britain is dominating this group with 6 first places and even at this half way stage in the championship looks unbeatable. In the other 5 divisions racing is a lot closer. In the sixth race of the day several of the leading sailors were penalised for being on the course line of the start line at the start as the fight for a good start in this competitive fleet increased.
With most sailors already carrying one discard further errors of judgement will dramatically affect the results.

The fleet have a rest day tomorrow visiting a cultural centre and whiskey distillery before resuming racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday when a further 2 races per day are scheduled. As is often the case on a non racing day the weather is set to improve and the hopes are that the recent damp weather will go away for the remaining days of the championship and the fleet will get the opportunity to sail offshore which could chnge the leader board once again.
